On February 22nd, Viejas Casino & Resort hosted a landmark event to commemorate the groundbreaking of the Viejas Enterprise Microgrid. This momentous occasion was attended by members of a binational energy initiative, including representatives from the California Energy Commission (CEC), the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians, tribal nations of San Diego, officials from the Mesa de Otay Industrial Association (AIMO) in Mexico, key subcontractors, and dignitaries from Mexico, all gathered to celebrate this innovative project. The Viejas Enterprise Microgrid is poised to be one of the most advanced microgrid projects currently under construction. The project is supported by a substantial $31 million grant from the California Energy Commission.
